$500 Julie Brandau Memorial Scholarship

Essay Information

In memory of Julie Brandau, Georgia Shorthand Reporters Association (GSRA) is proud to offer one deserving student a $500 scholarship rewarding his or her hard work.

Essay Requirements

Minimum of two pages neatly typed and double spaced. Proper spelling, grammar and punctuation are extremely important. Students at any speed may apply. No particular format is required as long as it’s neat.

Subject Matter

Subject matter of the essay should include why you feel you deserve the scholarship.

Similar suggestions for subject matter may be based on the following:

  • Your life as a student.
  • Where you see yourself in the next few years.
  • What you hope this profession will mean to you as a working reporter
  • Why and how you chose reporting.
  • What way you intend to contribute to our profession after you graduate.

These are only ideas. Please feel free to write about whatever interests you as long as it has to do with reporting and why you feel you deserve the scholarship.

The submission deadline is August 15, 2008. The scholarship will be awarded at the 2008 GSRA Fall Seminar in Savannah, September 12 - 14. Winner need not be present to win.
